What we do

While a major focus of our Shed is to foster greater well-being among men in our community, we accomplish this through a number of avenues. First is through our regular meetings. Here men get together to talk about projects we have underway, community events we attend, life in general, or even play games.

Another way we get together to learn and contribute is to undertake specific projects. We have worked with one community organisation to build a community pantry, and another to build a fence. We have also held a fix-it workshop where we offer to try and repair household items brought in by members of the community. We also work on projects to produce items we can sell to raise money for our shed operations.

In addition to undertaking projects for the community and ourselves, we also attend various community events where we set up a booth to show the public what we do. These events give us an opportunity not only to tell who we are, but to increase awareness of the social and psychological needs of men in general, and retired men in particular.
