Esquimalt men’s Shed Meeting Notes May 28th 2026

Good morning gentlemen

Thanks for coming out.

Present were:

Business;

Pete K and Layton E have parts prepared for the cornhole boards. The build session is scheduled for next Thursday June 4th at Pat’s shop. The last of the robin nest platforms will also be built  then.

Last week several of us moved the food pantry from its original site to a new location. Many hands made light work of it. Local tv was on scene to catch some of the action, and to speak with members of Esquimalt Mutual Aid. Thanks to all who took part.

Doug reported that the Sidney shed’s tool sale was not well attended.

Layton donated a 4 inch power plane to the shed. Thanks Layton.

Rob H updated the progress of VicWestFest. All needed supplies have been identified and assigned to members. Thanks to the donors.

Load in will be a t 11:15 June 6th at Banfield Park in Vic West.

Price point for the robin nest platform agreed at $20 per unit.

Price point for the 3-D printed items Roger makes agreed at $5 per item. Thanks Roger for the demo pieces, and for production.

AGM date is to be discussed by the board. Next week that report will be tabled.

Layton reviewed the recent repair cafe at Vic West Community Ctr. 

The event was not well attended, apparently. 

In our future effort to produce a repair cafe several points were observed:

• Location is important
• Parking is helpful
• Promotion is crucial
• First attempts are likely to be poorly attended
• Routine events should build profile and participation

Rob H and Brian H presented the logo question for discussion. Thanks to all for contributing, and hearing the exchange.
